The Official Twitter of the State of Israel represents the oppressive government institution that has oppressed millions of Palestinian people for decades.  Israel’s twitter is proud to claim the Cloud Nothings in an attempt to whitewash its documented war crimes and human rights violations.  Are the Cloud Nothings aware they would be breaching an international boycott by artists of Israel?  The Cloud Nothings may like to know that their audience would include those serving in the brutal Israeli Occupation Forces.

Israel has resorted to appropriating the arts for political purposes.  Cloud Nothings’ Israeli booking agents would like for the band to ignore the reasons why the esteemed Professor Stephen Hawking chose to publically support the boycott of apartheid Israel.

Hawking joins distinguished artists, writers, and anti-racist activists such as Archbishop Desmond Tutu, John Berger, Arundhati Roy, Adrienne Rich, Ken Loach Naomi Klein and the recently departed Iain Banks.
World-renowned artists, among them Roger Waters, Bono, Snoop Dogg, Jean Luc Godard, Elvis Costello, Gil Scott Heron, Carlos Santana, Devendra Banhart, Faithless and the Pixies have also publicly supported the boycott and/or cancelled their performances in Israel over its human rights record.  Maxi Jazz (Faithless front-man) had this to say as he maintained his principled position not to entertain apartheid:
“While human beings are being willfully denied not just their rights but their needs for their children and grandparents and themselves, I feel deeply that I should not be sending even tacit signals that [performing in Israel] is either ‘normal’ or ‘ok’. It’s neither and I cannot support it. It grieves me that it has come to this and I pray everyday for human beings to begin caring for each other, firm in the wisdom that we are all we have.”
